💡 How to Run a Race Night
Your guests can buy tickets, reserving their seats for a small fee (we recommend no more than £5 per ticket). You can offer discounts for kids on family nights or even free entry—it's up to you! This contribution covers the Race Night cost, buffet, venue etc.
During the Race Night, your guests will bet on a horse to win at the Tote desk. After announcing the winning horse, guests who bet on the winning horse will receive a cash prize, it works a bit like this.
Let's say the bets go like this - eight horses in a race, and people bet as follows:
- Horse 1: 10 bets are placed on it at £1 each. So 10 Bets X £1 a bet = £10, Lets apply the same below down to horse 8.
- Horse 2: 16 bets (£16.00)
- Horse 3: 14 bets (£14.00)
- Horse 4: 8 bets (£8.00)
- Horse 5: 12 bets (£12.00)
- Horse 6: 6 bets (£6.00)
- Horse 7: 24 bets (£24.00)
- Horse 8: 10 bets (£10.00)
Total Bets Placed; 100. Total Money; £100. Easy! Our payout percentage is 50%. That makes; £50 for the cause and £50 in the payout pot. This re-sets after each race.
We now take that £50 in the prize pot and divide that by how many bets have been placed on each horse, that looks like this;
- Horse 1 pays £5.00 to each winner (£50 Divided by 10 Bets = £5 a bet) Apply the same below.
- Horse 2 pays £3.00 (£50 Divided by 16 Bets = £3 a Bet
- Horse 3 pays £3.00
- Horse 4 pays £6.00
- Horse 5 pays £4.00
- Horse 6 pays £8.00 (the outsider)
- Horse 7 pays £2.00 (the favourite)
- Horse 8 pays £5.00
We then repeat this for every race. Remember you can buy as many bets as you like, eg. £1 is one bet. £3 is 3 bets, £5 is 5 bets etc.
